Forney is the fastest-moving commuter market in Kaufman County. It calls itself the Antique Capital of Texas, but the housing story is almost entirely new construction: master-planned neighborhoods off FM 548 and US-80 that have been delivering homes continuously for a decade, plus a smaller resale market closer to the old town center.

The thing that catches buyers here is the tax layer. A large share of Forney’s newer neighborhoods sit inside a Municipal Utility District or a Public Improvement District, and that assessment is added on top of the ordinary property tax bill. Two homes with the same sticker price on two sides of a boundary can carry very different monthly payments. We check the district before you write, not after.
